Blueberry - 'Blue Crop' - 3 litre pot
Superb mid-season variety cropping from late July. The light blue fruit has a good rich flavour and is easily picked from open clusters. Use it for all purposes - culinary or dessert. The growth is vigorous and upright and the foliage will turn bronze in the autumn before falling. The stems are red in the winter. ;
Where to plant:
Place in an open sunny spot in neutral to acid, free draining soil. Allow 1.5/2m (5/6ft) between plants.
How to plant:
Dig the planting hole about twice the diameter of the pot and soak the root ball before planting. Mix lime-free compost and general fertilizer with the soil when you back fill. Water well in and keep watered until established. Blueberries can be grown successfully in large pots using ericaceous (lime-free) compost.
Thin out older dense bushes by reducing the number of branches by one third every two to three years in winter. A general fertilizer can be applied in the spring.
